       Who is Felipe Carasso
[img: eyeruler]

Okay, so somehow you're curious about me. Too bad for you...

My name is Felipe Carasso, married on July the 30th 2005 to Glaucia Ely Hiraiwa with no children so far.

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on December the 28th of 1976 and moved to Rio de Janeiro when I was still a nearly-born pup (6 months).

I'm a Computer Engineer graduated at PUC-Rio University that chose to work with the net from the beginning (well, my beginning as a professional, that is), so I got a Systems Analyst job (something like a Systems Support with some little software development) on my University right during my second year of studies.

I started building HTML pages and doing some network management like installing that now so unuseful identd for UNIX, maintaining the University's IRC Server, administrating the use of IRC clients, solving routing problems and hanging Unix machines, and so on.

Not long after that, I began to give HTML and Unix lessons for the University's community, HTML support to web designers, creating CGIs and applications, giving support to other departments regarding Unix problems and spending my time on virtual environments such as IRC and MUDs.

IRC was my first great addiction. I spent many, many hours of my University life there. Hours that I should have spent on Physics and Calculus classes, by the way. I even managed to forget about important exams sometimes. But oh well, most people can't help but do some stupid things when they're young. Luckily those I did weren't too bad. It actually turns out that thanks to that I kind of developed some nice skills.

On EFnet, you could once find me on channel #brasil, but I stopped to go there because of some ideologic incompatibility. Another EFnet place I used to go was #Werewolf. After a while I joined #Brasil on Undernet and in parallel to that I went into a WereNet called AHWW-Irc.

A bit later I turned to wolflike channels, such as #wolfhaven and #wolfspirit.

The last two channels I used to join were #canada and #brasil-usa, then I completely lost interest on IRC. Now I just go to the AHWW-Irc (or one of the servers that inherited it) once in a never (read: seldom) and hardly visit any other IRC networks anymore.

I am pleased to help anyone who requests it, no matter the subject. Obviously, technology subjects are usually more welcome, but whatever I can do to help, pleases me. I often find myself frustrated if I can't help or my help is refused.

Living near my grandfather (mother's side) made me develop some high idea of justice... but I really elaborated that when I started to fall into this wolf thing, which somewhat coincided with me finding about Hrimhari and choosing this comics character to be my alter ego on the net. I somewhat tried to deserve the use of Hrimhari as a nickname, and the character is one of these that are almost unbearably nice.

When it cooled down a bit, I found out that I actually liked to put that extra effort on being as nice as I could and I realized that it is often better to think on the closer people before thinking on oneself. The raw/logical explanation involves a simple math: how much goodness something brings to me compared to the amount of badness it brings to others? How much goodnes something brings to others compared to the amount of badness it brings to me? Usually the "best" response to these questions is what I take as north.

My closest origins are Brazilian, Egypcian, and Portuguese. My father (Joseph Carasso) was born in Cairo and my mother (Ana Maria Carasso) was born in Rio de Janeiro. Here is a picture of my father on a tour to his original country, and here is me with my mother near the Mother's Day. Of course, I can't forget my wonderful, dearest and only big bro which now lives so far away, in Ghana.

I don't do excepcional things on weekends. I used to play AD&D with my best freakish friends (unfortunally Mark and Gustavo had to be eventually removed from that list). We also did quite some mountain trail hikings and other nature-like trips.

I like to read, but alas, I don't do that so often. I think the best book of all times would be "Dune", the original first volume, from Frank Herbert. Another favorite would be "The Hollow Mansion" from Agatha Christie.

       The Wolf Thing
[img: eyeruler]

As you may have noticed, there's some strange recurrence up there regarding werewolves and wolves. That is, if you managed to not notice the website as a whole. So it's time to deal with the most likely reason for you to be reading this: the "wolf thing".

The "wolf thing" is quite difficult to explain, but here are my best shots:

       Why Hrimhari
[img: eyeruler]

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not from India nor Japan. Hrimhari is a secondary comics character that appeared in some few comic books related to the X-Men (but actually the New Mutants).

The interest on Hrimhari came about the same time as my "wolf thing" was developed. It happens that Hrimhari is a wolf man, depicted as living in Asgard (see Norse Mythology), and that met and got in love with Rahne Sinclair, which was a "New Mutant" (with werewolf-like powers).

When I got into the net, I first tried to build my own werewolf alter ego, but then I found the Hrimhari character and decided that it just fit me perfectly. Here's more about Hrimhari and what not on the Back History section.

Since Hrimhari's supposed to be a Norse Mythology character, I figured it should be my duty to know something about that topic too. Here's what I found.

In short, Hrimhari is a wolf man of good, adventurous nature. it's the synthesis of most of what I try to be. Get to know the character and you'll know a great deal about myself.

       General Thoughts about Human Beings
[img: eyeruler]

Against my teenage's beliefs, someday I came to the conclusion that things are never as simple as they may seem at first glance. It comes out that everything has advantages and disadvantages. Well, everything just is, and ends up by producing good and bad effects on everything else.

The thing is that it's not that clear to properly judge whatever is supposed to be there to be judged. Since I can't think forever about whatever (even though I try O.o), I hold tight to a couple of basic things that I find mandatory, such as a noticeable degree of fairness and a basic degree of care.

People that show little or no respect to what's around them tend to lose my respect as well. People that show an absurd degree of unpoliteness may end up by meeting my deepest sarcasm.

Otherwise, if something or someone doesn't cause a considerable degree of problem to my surroundings, it has the benefit of the reasonable doubt and some basic credit.

       Personal Goals (as of 2007/03/01)

FAILED: For Computer Graphics class, I thought about creating a VisualMUD, based on my WereMUD... we did a silly ray-trace and this project got closed because we couldn't find time to work on it. Some time later, I got too much to do and had to close the MUD as well, so I could say that this is a failed goal.
ALTERNATIVE: improving Hollow World MUD's WEB interface

TO DO: Find my soul mate. Finding one that's never available doesn't count, unfortunatelly... and since first marriage never really took off, I'm resetting this goal.

SUCCESS: Immigrate legally to Canada. That's been a life goal since before the new century, I think. It's accomplishment kind of fell into my lap after 2 years working for Gemplus do Brasil, when I was internally transfered to Gemplus Canada's Montreal office with a work permit and a permanent position. I'm currently a permanent resident.

SUCCESS: Have a permanent resident permit.

TO DO: Become a Canadian citizen.

FAILED: Convince my (now ex) wife that living in Canada is good, or at least worthy of her efforts.

TO DO: visit Japan

TO DO: visit Tahiti

TO DO: ethernalize myself by having heirs (long to accomplish!), preferably canadian.
